OSINT is a new and exciting course that aims to provide practical, instructor-led guidance and support to risk and compliance professionals to become even more effective in assessing customer risks and uncovering new sources of information that may be critical in identifying undisclosed risks.
Criminals, fraudsters, sanctions evaders and money launderers have become far more effective in evading traditional screening approaches used by regulated staff. In this course, learners will acquire new skills and knowledge that go beyond any reliance on watchlists and databases to perform effective, timely and forensic enhanced customer due diligence searches and investigations.
You will be supported with pre-recorded OSINT expert demonstrations and prepared templates that can be used during practical exercises.
When you are ready, you will be invited to complete a short, timed online multiple-choice assessment of what you have learned. If you are successful, you will receive a certificate recognising your success that is awarded in association with the University of Gloucestershire and be permitted to use the designation, GCOSINT on your personal profile.
The aim of the course is to help you to perform enhanced and more forensic due diligence checks, as well as understanding methods that can be used to verify assets, relationships and even location.
There are two parts to the programme. The first is designed to introduce OSINT techniques and how to use the Internet. The second provides guided applied learning through practical skills and knowledge development, using prepared case-studies and using real-time exercises and assessments.
You will be shown how to identify sources of information and instructor-led guidance on how to use search engines effectively, safely and with anonymity.
You will be able to watch our OSINT expert perform recorded demonstrations of how to conduct forensic name searches to identify and verify information and the identity of natural persons. This includes how to use digital information to verify location through images.
You will learn how to identify undisclosed information relating to individuals and companies, including undisclosed beneficial ownership or influence, different family name associations and close business associates of high-risk relationships, such as Politically Exposed Persons (“PEPs”).
During this part of the programme, you will receive guided tuition on how to perform an open-source investigation and risk assessment of a named individual using prepared templates and using the skills learned in Part A.
You will learn how to perform enhanced due diligence checks and validation for non-face-to-face relationships to identify key information and risks relating to new and existing clients.
You will be able to search with anonymity and in full compliance with locally applicable laws and regulations, using measures that can be employed to ensure safety and privacy whilst online.
When you are ready, you will be asked to complete a timed-online assessment of what you have learned. If you are successful, you will be awarded a certificate of success that is awarded in association with the University of Gloucestershire and use the designation GCOSINT in your professional profile.
